ABOUT THE EVENT

Welcome to the High-level Legacy Conference SPORT DIPLOMACY AND INTERGENERATIONAL SPORT VALUES!

 

The event is set to share results, good practices and lessons learned, as well as to demonstrate the dedication of the participants in the RUNATHON Sofia not-for-ptofit Sport Event to promoting and nurturing intergenerational sport values.
The event will be a platform to discover Europe as a place where sport diplomacy is used as a powerful tool for solving disputes, fostering cooperation, understanding, and peace among nations.
By organising this high-level legacy conference, the RUNATHON organizers would like to emphasize the importance of leveraging the universal language of sport to advance European, national and everycity’s diplomatic objectives.
The event will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Building a strong legacy of the event and multiplication of project results will be ensured by the participation of representatives of all associated partners, MEPs, EC`s officials in the field of sports, local authorities, Bulgarian Olympic Committee officials, sports stakeholders, and athletes.

All partners coming from European cities, towns and capitals of sport and culture will share how they approach following challenges:
• Ageism in sport as a form of discrimination,
• Diversification of sports offer during large grassroot sport events,
• Sustainable marathons’ management,
• Traditional and intergenerational games as a tool for social inclusion of seniors and health improvement,
• European priorities in the field of sport and HEPA and many more.

#LEGACY

Participants will sign a common pledge to promote sports across all generations, make sport activities more inclusive and adapt initiatives to be more welcoming for people 55+.
